Places in Books I’d Love to Visit

May 18, 2018December 4, 2022 Sarah

One of the best parts about reading is losing yourself in the place and time of a book. Below are my & Laura's top 5 places in books that we'd love to visit. Only one is a real place, but for another two, we had the chance to visit the film set! Harry Potter series… Continue reading Places in Books I’d Love to Visit

Characters I Would Want as Friends

April 20, 2018December 4, 2022 Sarah

This week hasn't been the greatest, but my super awesome friends have made it better. And while I wouldn't trade a one of them, if I had to pick 5 characters to bring to be BFFs with, these lovelies would be the ones! Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys Emilia: As a character who… Continue reading Characters I Would Want as Friends

Cozy Snowy Winter / Rainy Spring Reads

April 6, 2018December 4, 2022 Sarah

Apparently winter hasn't had enough of the East Coast yet and we're due to get another snowstorm tomorrow. In April. I'm sick of it. However, there are certain books that I will always revisit on a snowy day, because what is better on a snowy day than a large stack of books and tall mug… Continue reading Cozy Snowy Winter / Rainy Spring Reads

Meeting Authors

March 30, 2018October 29, 2022 Sarah

In my role as assistant manager at a local independent bookstore, I've been fortunate to meet some of my favorite authors, as well as be introduced to many new authors as well! Some have been lovely human beings, genuine and kind, wanting to truly get to know their fans. Others have been difficult and divas,… Continue reading Meeting Authors

Good Little Feminist

March 23, 2018December 4, 2022 Sarah

The Inspiration On Saturday, I almost got into a fight. I rarely say such things, or even contemplate turning to any sort of violent behavior to settle a disagreement, but hear me out. My husband and I went to a concert in Philadelphia, something that we often do but that frequently causes anxiety for me.… Continue reading Good Little Feminist

For the Love of the Independent Bookstore

March 9, 2018October 29, 2022 Sarah

Over the past 10 months I've been posting reviews of both books I've finished recently and those that I've read in years past. Since I know I cannot keep up a reading pace to continue to post new reviews three times a week, I've decided to introduce a new feature to the blog called Bookish… Continue reading For the Love of the Independent Bookstore

Who I Am & What I Do

Hello and welcome to Celebration of Books! I’m Sarah, a thirty-something former indie bookstore manager in the Philadelphia suburbs and current middle school teacher. I love books, and I hope you’ll find a book or two here that you’ll enjoy as well!

My sister, Laura, also contributes reviews from time to time so you’ll see her as the author of some reviews, or occasionally a post with reviews from us both!
